stronger

One day. One experience. One breath at a time.

You fall down. You get back up.

You fail. You study what happened and learn from the experience. You make adjustments. And you try again.

One of my favorite quotes is: “Every artist was first an amateur” (Ralph Waldo Emerson) and this is true no matter what your “art” is.

Sometimes your art is painting…

or sculpting…

or drawing…

or yoga…

or teaching…

or storytelling…

or reading cards…

or understanding people…

or making gourmet meals…

or communicating with spirits…

or connecting people…

or creating community…

or planning events…

or encouraging others…

or caring for animals…

or talking with trees…

or… or… or…

You get the idea.

No matter what the “art”, the process of getting stronger in it is the same.

You try, then try again, then try again.

You learn from what happened the last time and you make adjustments.

You be present with the experience – the whole experience (the light side AND the dark).

You FEEL what you feel without minimizing your feelings as unworthy or unfounded or silly or unnecessary or overly dramatic.

You have practices – breathing, creativity, movement – that allow your emotions to move through you so that you keep your energy clear, so that when you try again, you have clear eyes, a clear heart, and all of your own inner resources available.

You expand. You get bigger. You show up. You fill your space. Maybe just an inch at a time, but you don’t let fear of judgment or failure or ridicule stop you.

You step out of your comfort zone because you KNOW that that’s where the growth happens.

You shed the things that aren’t you. The things you know you don’t want. The things that hold you back. The things that keep you in fear.

You find the things that make your Soul feel good. The practices that make you feel at home within yourself. The activities that help you love yourself and be your Self.

You are KIND and COMPASSIONATE with yourself. You NURTURE and NOURISH yourself with the inner and outer fuel you need to step forward.

And you NEVER judge yourself. It is what is it. Whatever has happened, has happened. There is only going forward from here.

You become your own best friend and caring parent to nudge yourself gently forward into the unknown, and you support yourself every step of the way. 👣
